SocSciBot 4 freezing problem fixed

I think that the freezing problem with SocSciBot 4 has now been fixed. The new version 4.1 on the SocSciBot web site should not freeze any more. Sorry that this problem has taken so long to fix. If you are using the full version of SocSciBot 4 please email me for the update.

Hello,

I think there is a problem when you try to use Cyclist.

The following message appears when you try to import a stopword list (I am copying part of the message):

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** Exception Text **************
System.ArgumentException: The provided filter string is invalid. The filter string should contain a description of the filter, followed by the vertical bar (|) and the filter pattern. The strings for different filtering options should also be separated by the vertical bar. Example: "Text files (*.txt)|*.txt|All files (*.*)|*.*"

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

Thanks a lot,
Alba

Hello Mike,

Thank you for the full version.

I am here to report that it freezes while crawling. I checked the URl and it enda with ".pps" (not sure if it helps)

Hi Chien,
The powerpoint presentation files (.pps) may be very big but they should not cause a problem - please could you privately send me the URL of the page and I will test this out.
Best wishes,
Mike
